World peace begins within. Meaning, in order to create positive change around us, we must first create positive change within. If we can manifest peace within, we can manifest peace with out. I began my journey of self discovery and healing in 2000 when I began meditating and practicing yoga. Soon after first delving into the 8 limb practices of hatha yoga I knew it was what I wanted to devote my life's study and work to. From a young age I felt the science of yoga would offer me more answers to life's most burning questions than my Smith College degree. 15 years later I am my own living proof. My inward journey took me to India, Nepal and Tibet where I lived for the better part of 3 years studying the philosophies of the east at various Tibetan Temples and sitting in meditation retreats with Jaya Ashmore and Open Dharma. When I came back to the states I furthered my studies in yoga under the guidance on Elien Muir, Sommer and Paul Sobin, Lila Brown, John Friend, Betsy Downing, Jenny Otto, Zhenja La Rosa and more. Over the past 15 years I have turned to my asana, pranayama, and meditation practitces as my home base, inner teacher, and therapist. The shifts I have witnessed in myself and my students affirm the potency of this practice as a panacea for the mind's instability and the heart's expansion.
My love of yoga, meditation, alignment, therapeutics, and anatomy led me to further studies at the Pacific Center of Awareness and Bodywork in 2009 where became both a Certified Massage Therapist and Certified Structural Integration Therapist. My years of school were comprised of Massage therapy, Structural Integration, Inter-personal therapy, Transpersonal therapy and meditation, all of which I now integrate into my current bodywork practice. My primary bodywork teachers include Cris Rubini, Lee Joseph, and Hugh Milne. Today I am a LMT and treat clients both in Philadelphia and in Kauai (during the winter months), as well as co-teach Massage Therapy CE Courses. I teach at The Pacific center of Awareness and Bodywork as a bodywork instructor over the winter months.
I am registered 200 CYT. I co-teach a Yoga Teacher Training at Studio 34 in West Philadelphia. I also manage The Ahimsa House which is a center for practices of peace, sustainability, and conscious living also in West Philadelphia. You can view my current class schedules at the Ahimsa House website and the Studio 34 website.
